Program Overview: Sampling
The Camp Navajo Installation Restoration and Open Burn/Open Detonation Area Closure Program has collected thousands of samples since it began its investigation in 1980. The samples include such environmental media as soil, sediment, air, ground water, and surface water (full list of sample types). The samples are tested for up to hundreds of different analytes, depending on the types of activities that may have been conducted at the site, and the hazardous compounds that may have been used (list of contaminants being investigated at Camp Navajo). All testing is done using ADEQ- and EPA-approved laboratories and methods. This approval ensures that the detection levels are very low, and the results are accurate and reliable.
The EDMS Web site presents the sampling results as raw data; in the same manner as our scientists receive them for review. The results, in this form, are presented as lists of all analytes that were detected in each sample. Analytes that were not detected will not appear on these lists.
